"The meaning of life is to give life meaning." This is the Haven restaurant slogan. Haven is a restaurant that is doing good in all sense of the word good. Firstly they are offering delicious food, with an extensive menu of both local Khmer cuisine and international western food. Secondly, they are doing good to the local community by helping young disadvantaged adults.
The restaurant is owned and run by 3 Swiss people that opened this restaurant for a good cause in 2011 in the Old Market area before to moved it to the Wat Damnak Area in 2016. Today the family is bigger and they welcome 15 trainees each year. Haven, due to some dirty story about orphanages in Siem Reap, remind on their website that they do not support any Orphanage in Siem Reap, but they rather help young adults that are coming from there, and therefore without family to help them get a bright future in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Haven restaurant give them access to free education, training related to the restaurant as well as English and computers lessons. What is really interesting in their training is that it includes "life skills" often forgotten by other program.
